Remdesivir, a COVID-19 drug, is not a “sanjeevani Booti,” according to Ganga Ram Hospital’s president.”

Dr. DS Rana, Chairperson, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said on Thursday that Remdesivir injection is not a “sanjeevani booti” for Covid-19 and that it should be provided to patients within seven days of contracting the infection.

He did say, however, that giving Remedisvir to Covid patients isn’t needed.

According to Dr. Rana, Remdesivir “merely reduces the severity of the disease and the length of hospitalization.”

“Remdesivir injection is not a’sanjeevani booti’ for Covid-19. Remdesivir must be taken within seven to eight days; otherwise, it is ineffective. “Remedisvir is not required for Covid patients, but it does make a difference,” he says.

Concerning the hospital’s oxygen supply, the Chairperson stated that the hospital is now receiving an adequate amount of oxygen and that the situation is much better than before.

“However, an uninterrupted supply of oxygen is required,” he added.

“People are afraid due to a lack of oxygen. There is no need to worry if their oxygen saturation is between 90 and 94. However, there is a VIP culture that should not exist. When their SpO2 is between 94 and 95, VIPs begin calling and demanding beds. This reduces the likelihood of hospitalization for those who truly require it “He continued.

Meanwhile, India experienced the highest single-day increase in Covid-19 infections, with 3,79,257 new cases, 3,645 deaths, and 2,69,507 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

The total number of active cases of infection in India has now reached 30,84,814. The Covid-19’s cumulative death toll has risen to 1,83,76,524, with as many as 2,04,832 people succumbing to the disease thus far. So far, 1,50,86,878 people have recovered from the disease.
