Indian Railways: The plan of travel by train suddenly changed, change the date of travel without canceling the ticket

Indian Railways: Many times it is such that we get the train reservation done, but on occasion, our plan changes. So we are going to tell you that you can also ‘Preponed’ or ‘Postponed’ your train journey in such a situation. If you wish, you can also change the boarding station of your journey.

1.You can change the date of your train journey

Indian Railways provides a facility to its passengers that they can change the date of journey in their Confirm/RAC/Waiting ticket. According to Indian Railways, the date of journey on these tickets can be ‘Preponed’ or ‘Postponed’ to the same class/higher class or to the same destination on payment of a prescribed fee. Apart from this, Railways also allows passengers to extend their journey, change the boarding station of their journey and upgrade their tickets to a higher class. While some of these facilities are applicable for offline tickets only, others are available for both offline and online tickets.

2.Travel date can be changed only once

According to the website of Indian Railways, tickets booked at the station counter can be ‘Preponed’ or ‘Postponed’ only once on the date of the journey. Whether the availability of seats is confirmed or RAC or waiting. To extend or advance the date of journey, the passenger will have to surrender his ticket 48 hours before the departure of the train by going to the reservation office. Remember that this facility is available only for offline tickets, this facility will not be available on tickets booked online.

3.can also extend the trip

If you want to proceed with your journey, that is, you want to go beyond the station where the ticket has been booked, then for this, the passenger has to contact the ticket checking staff before reaching the destination or after the completion of the booked journey. Contact has to be made and they have to give information about the travel detail.

4.Can also change boarding station

Passengers can change the boarding station of the journey by applying in writing to the station manager of the original boarding station or by visiting a computerized reservation center at least 24 hours before the departure of the train. This facility is available on both offline and online tickets.

5.you upgrade the ticket

If you want to upgrade your ticket in the same train, that is, if your booking is in sleeper class and you want to upgrade to third AC or second AC, then for this you will have to talk to TTE during the journey itself. TTE can upgrade your ticket if there is seat availability, but for this, you will have to pay an extra charge. You will be charged according to the reservation charge and the distance of the journey. You can do this only once.
