SBI Bank Phishing Message
SBI customers are receiving a text message stating that their ‘YONO’ account will be blocked if they do not update their PAN number on the given link. For the unaware, YONO is SBI’s digital banking platform. The link in the message portrays it as an SBI page, asking users to enter sensitive information. Hackers can gain access to the information if the user enters their credentials and can misuse it.
This is a standard-issue phishing attack. Since the phishing attack pertains to a bank account, we strongly advise you not to click on the link under any circumstances as your money is likely to be stolen if you click on the link and enter any sensitive information Is.
SBI has accepted the phishing message being sent to its customers. The state-led bank has mentioned that its IT security team will initiate appropriate action on this. Further, it has advised customers not to respond to emails/SMS/calls/embedded links asking them to share their personal or banking details. Banks generally never ask for any OTP message or personal information. SBI is asking you to report such phishing messages at “report.phishing@sbi.co.in” or contact the helpline number 1930 to take action.
