India logs 3,207 COVID infections, 29 fatalities; maximum active cases in Delhi

The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 4,25,60,905, while the death rate stood at 1.22 percent.

India recorded 3,207 new coronavirus infections, while active cases were recorded at 20,403, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Monday.

The death toll rose to 5,24,093, with 29 fresh deaths, data updated at 8 am.

According to the government, active cases are for 0.05 percent of total infections, with a national COVID-19 recovery rate of 98.74 percent.

The daily positivity rate was 0.96 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.83 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 4,25,60,905, while the death rate stood at 1.22 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign have reached 1,90,34,90,396.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16.

It reached 60 lakhs on September 28th, 70 lakhs on October 11th, 80 lakhs on October 29th, 90 lakhs on November 20th, and one crore on December 19th.

Last year, the country passed the 20 million mark on May 4 and the 30 million mark on June 23.

There are 35 persons from Kerala, two from Delhi, and one each from Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh among the newcomers.

More than 70% of the deaths, according to the government, were caused by co-morbidities.

“Our data is being collated with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website. He stated that the state-by-state distribution of data is still being verified and reconciled.
