The Adani Group will take part in the auction for the 5G spectrum as well. The company confirmed this on Saturday. The Adani Group, however, clarified that it has no plans to enter the consumer mobility space and wants to set up a private network solution.
According to the statement, “We are taking part in the 5G spectrum auction to offer private network solutions and cyber security in the airport, port, and logistics, power production, transmission, and distribution, as well as diverse manufacturing processes. For our own digital platforms, including SuperApp, EDGE data centers, and industry command and data centers, the organization stated, “We require ultra high-quality data streaming capacity.”
On Friday, the Adani Group applied for participation in the spectrum auction. The sale of airwaves in various bands is part of the auction. Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea Limited, current telecom service providers, will also take part in this auction. According to the Adani Group statement, access to the spectrum will help the Adani Group to build a digital platform and strengthen its data center capabilities.
In February 2021, the group partnered with EdgeConneX Inc., a leading data center operator, to establish a 50:50 joint venture. In order to build hyper-scale data centres in Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Noida, Vizag, and Hyderabad, the partners committed Rs 375 crore in the joint venture business in November 2021.
upcoming auction
The 5G spectrum auction held on July 26 will be held on July 26. The government has put 5G spectrum for sale in several bands including 600 MHz, 700 MHz, and 3300 MHz. In addition to 5G, airwaves are available for sale in 26 GHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 2500 MHz. The government will release the whole list of bids on July 20.
By the end of this year, 5G service may be accessible.
According to the mandate of the government, any company buying spectrum will have to start the service within 6 months to 1 year. Many telecommunications companies have finished their preparations, allowing them to begin operations 3 to 6 months after obtaining spectrum. In such a scenario, there is a strong likelihood that 5G service will be available by the end of this year.
