The West Bengal Transport Corporation opened India’s first floating library on the Hooghly River in Kolkata in 2021 in collaboration with a historic bookshop. According to the representative, the purpose of the Boat Library is to allow people to cruise around the Hooghly River while reading books and taking in the beauty of Kolkata. In Bengali, English, and Hindi, there are 500 books in the Young Reader’s Boat Library. The three-hour trip of the boat library departs from Millennium Park, continues to Belur Math Jetty, and then heads back.
