According to data released by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), from April 1 to November 30, the government issued refunds worth Rs 2.15 lakh crore to taxpayers.
66.92 percent more refund issued
This figure of refund is 66.92 percent more in the same period last year. Earlier, till October 8, 2022, Rs 1.53 lakh crore was issued as refund to the taxpayers.
Why did not get refund
If you have not received your income tax refund yet, there could be many reasons for this. Tax refund is getting delayed due to outstanding demand of previous ITR filings. In fact, intimation notices were issued by the department to many taxpayers in the last financial year. But many people did not respond to these or did not update the portal. There is a delay in getting refund to such taxpayers.
Check your refund status like this
First, go to the website of Taxpayer Income Tax Department www.incometax.gov.in.
Now login with a password by entering PAN, Aadhaar number, or User User ID.
Here go to Income Tax Return under the e-file option. After that select, the option of View Filed Return.
Now check the latest ITR filed and go to view details.
Your refund status will appear here. In this, you will get the information on which date the refund has been issued or on which date the refund will be issued.
