Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has opened a pedestrian subway at Terminal 1 of IGI Airport. The 130-meter-long subway provides connectivity between the DMRC’s Magenta Line metro station and the airport arrivals area.
Each entrance and exit of the subway has two escalators and stairs as well as two elevators. The lifts installed in the metro for the movement of passengers are more spacious than the normal lifts installed in the metro system and have the capacity to carry around 26 people.
The DMRC said that the metro has also been decorated with attractive artwork to depict the rich heritage of the region.
According to DMRC officials, the underground walkway was thrown open to the public in the presence of DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar.
