Hyundai Creta Electric SUV: Tata Motors has the largest share in the Indian electric car market. At present, its market share is more than 80 percent. Mahindra has also made aggressive plans for the electric car market and is going to bring many new products in the EV segment in the coming times. But, now Hyundai will not be left behind either. According to media reports, Hyundai is planning to bring an electric version of its best-selling SUV Creta. Reports say that the Hyundai Creta Electric is in the works, which could be made available for sale by the year 2025.
Significantly, the position of Creta in the compact SUV segment is very strong. It continues to be the best-selling SUV in its segment almost every month. In such a situation, if its electric version comes in the market, then naturally this compact SUV will make the competition more difficult for other car manufacturers in the EV segment. Tata and Mahindra are also working on some new EVs, which can compete with the Creta EV in the market.
According to media reports, the codename of the Hyundai Creta EV SUV is SU2i EV. Its production can be started by the end of 2024. Talking about the prices, the Hyundai Creta EV is expected to cost around Rs.15 lakh for the base model and around Rs.30 lakh for the top-end variant. The electric SUV could be produced at the carmaker’s Chennai facility. Hyundai has invested Rs 1,472 crore in FY22 to increase the manufacturing capacity of the plant (up to 8.5 lakh units).
