A huge Data Theft network in Telangana that was thought to have information on over 66.9 crore individuals and businesses has been dismantled by cyberbad police. Police made one arrest in connection with the incident. The data is anticipated to be broken down into 104 categories and to belong to individuals from over 24 states and 8 major cities. Vinay Bhardwaj has been named as the defendant. He was based in Faridabad, Haryana, and was concealing his data theft under the name of his website, “Inspirewebz.” He used cloud drive links to sell the dataset to the customers.
“Data from numerous sources, including Byjus,
Vedantu, cab users, GST, RTO, Amazon, Netflix, Paytm, Phonepe, etc., have been discovered to be in the possession of the accused. The accused was selling the database to customers while operating through the Faridabad, Haryana-based website “InspireWebz,” according to a tweet from the Cyberabad Police.
The police seized two mobile phones, two laptops,
and the data while making the arrest. “The accused had been holding data from 135 categories containing sensitive information of the government, private companies, and individuals,” it continued.
The accused illegally took private and sensitive information,
which they later sold on the open market. The offender has access to the student records of the ed-tech companies BYJU and Vedantu. The defendant also had access to consumer information for important companies including Amazon, Netflix, Paytm, Instagram, Zomato, Policy Bazaar, and GST (Pan India), RTO (Pan India).
