Twitter is now deleting accounts that haven’t been used in a while, according to Elon Musk. Musk made the move in an effort to boost engagement and revenue-generating potential on the web platform he paid $44 billion last year.
The number of followers will decrease
We are removing accounts that have not had any activity for a couple of years, so you will likely notice a reduction in the number of followers, Musk wrote in a tweet. Users and advertisers have been turned off by changes Musk ordered at Twitter, including staff reductions and the introduction of free verification checkmarks viewed as a seal of validity.

Many receivers objected to the decision to reinstate Twitter’s blue ticks on some media, celebrity, and other high-profile accounts in late April. At the time, Musk stated on Twitter that he was “personally paying for some” memberships.
