Users of WhatsApp will soon be able to look for other users by using their usernames thanks to a new feature coming shortly to the search bar. Because they won’t have to divulge their real phone numbers, customers will have greater privacy thanks to this function. The new functionality will show up as a new tab above WhatsApp’s search bar, according to a screenshot WABetaInfo posted. Users can look up other users by utilizing their username or additional details like name or profile photo.
With the help of this feature,
users will be able to select a username that other users can use to locate them. For people who prefer not to disclose their phone numbers, this will be helpful. Users can still connect with others using their phone numbers as usernames will be fully optional.
You can also modify your username.
Users can add, remove, or modify their usernames at any time, according to a study. They will be able to modify their privacy settings to suit their requirements as a result. The new functionality is still in development and will be available in a later WhatsApp app update. Whether this capability will work with iOS and Android is still unknown. A new feature has been added by WhatsApp to improve privacy. Users can specify a secret code for their locked chats with this functionality. Users can increase the security of their private chats by using this code, which is distinct from their phone unlock code.
Developer and CEO of Meta,
Mark Zuckerberg, announced the function, saying it will assist users in making sure that their most private discussions are only accessible when the secret code is typed into the search bar. This provides even more defense against inadvertent discovery.
