For the T20 World Cup 2024, the ICC will apply these 5 new rules

Fans and players alike turn their attention to the T20 World Cup 2024 as soon as the IPL concludes. The massive event will begin on June 1. The ICC has prepared a set of new regulations for the major tournament. This time, something unprecedented in history will occur. For the T20 World Cup 2024, the ICC has tight guidelines. In this competition, there will be five of these new rules.

The stop-clock rule comes first.

According to this rule, as soon as the first over concludes, the bowling team must begin the second over within one minute. There is a clause imposing a five-run penalty if this doesn’t occur, therefore if the rule is broken, the batting team’s score will be added by 5 runs. However, the umpires will warn the fielding team twice about this. Action will be taken if the rule is broken for the third time. This rule will be seen on the cricket field for the first time.

The ICC has demonstrated strictness regarding

the fixture schedule for the T20 World Cup in 2024. Three hours and ten minutes is the time restriction that the ICC has set for the entire match. The bowling team will have to take the brunt of it if this doesn’t occur. The captain will have to call a fielder inside the circle if the time is broken. An innings will end at 1 hour 25 minutes, according to the ICC’s schedule. In addition, there will be a 20-minute intermission rather than a 10-minute one during the innings break.

Additionally, ICC modified the reserve day policy.

For the first time, a reserve day has not been scheduled for the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024. There will be a reserve day for the first semifinal and the championship game. However, if weather causes the second semifinal to be postponed, an additional 4 hours and 10 minutes will be added to the scheduled time, and the game will be played until it is over. A superover is observed if the match is tied. However, if the super over is tied, the boundary count rule is applied. There was debate regarding this rule during the World Cup in 2019. This rule was thereafter eliminated. Currently playing in the World Cup,  until the result is declared, super overs will be seen.

If the T20 World Cup is interrupted by rain,

the Duckworth Lewis rule will be applied to determine the outcome of the match. However, there are still differences between league round and knockout matches. In league-round matches, this regulation will only be applied once at least five overs have been completed. In contrast, a 10-over cap has been imposed on knockout games.
