In August, banks are closed for 13 days, see the state-by-state list

Including Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays, and national and regional holidays, all Indian public and private sector banks would be closed for thirteen days. Because bank holidays vary from state to state, clients should check the complete list of holidays with the branch closest to them. Banks will be closed on the following dates: Ker Puja, Tendong Lho Rum Faat, Patriot’s Day, Independence Day/Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi), Raksha Bandhan/Jhulana Purnima/Birthday of Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8)/Krishna Jayanthi, and others, as listed in the state holidays list.

Bank holidays in August 2024

  • On August 3, Agartala banks close in observance of Ker Puja.
  • August 8: In observance of Tendong Lho Rum Faat, banks are closed in Sikkim.
  • August 13: In observance of Patriot’s Day, Manipur’s banks are closed.
  • August 15: In observance of Independence Day, all Indian banks are closed.
  • August 19: Tripura, Gujarat, Orissa, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh all have closed banks.
  • August 20: In observance of Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi, banks are closed in Kerala.
  • August 26: On account of Janmashtami, they are closed in the following states: Gujarat, Orissa, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar.

On August 26, in honor of Janmashtami, which falls on the Sunday after the fourth Saturday, they are closed. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar would all have closed on that day.
