To do this, the government is developing a long-term plan to support agriculture-based exports and grow agriculture-related industries. By doing this, farmers can earn foreign cash for the nation rather than merely producing food grains to feed their bellies. The country’s irrigation infrastructure will also be expanded as part of this plan. Therefore, by providing irrigation facilities to those lands that do not yet have them, productivity can be raised.
The skill development of the rural workforce will be the main focus.
The budget can include a number of measures to carry out the plan of using agriculture to develop the rural economy. The budget for agriculture can also be used to support the skill development of the rural labour force. In addition to focussing on improving the skills of the rural workers in order to maximise agricultural revenue, the government also seeks to increase economic activity in the agriculturally related industries. By providing the same amount of time, this will give the rural workers multiple sources of income.
