Vi’s 5G Launch This Month! First City Revealed, Airtel on Alert!

Vi 5G Rollout: In March 2025, Vodafone Idea plans to introduce a 5G service in Mumbai. Following that, in April, the service will begin in Delhi, Bangalore, Chandigarh, and Patna.

Vodafone Idea 5G Launch: According to Vodafone Idea (Vi), 5G services would begin to be offered commercially in Mumbai in March 2025, then in Delhi, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, and Patna in April 2025. According to the corporation, it has quickly increased the 4G network’s capacity and coverage this year. Vodafone Idea has added 41 million 4G users in the past nine months, increasing its reach from 1.03 billion in March 2024 to 1.07 billion at the end of December 2024.

The company’s 4G data capacity increased by 24% during that time, which resulted in a 28% increase in 4G speeds. The business stated in its third-quarter results that it hopes to reach 90% of the population, or 1.1 billion people, with 4G service by March 2025. More than 4,000 additional internet towers were built by Vi in Q3, the most expansion in a single quarter since the company’s merger.

The business expanded coverage and enhanced the indoor network experience by deploying 4G at 15,000 locations in the 900 MHz spectrum. The Vi GIGAnet network’s capacity and data speed were further increased with the inclusion of 10,400 new sites in the 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands.

By December 2024, Vodafone Idea will have 4,60,300 broadband locations, including:

• 75,800 sites for TDD

13,950 locations for Massive MIMO

• 12,800 tiny cell locations.

Additionally, the business announced that 16 of the 17 key circles now have LTE 900 coverage.

Vi’s ARPU

In the December quarter, Vi’s average revenue per user (ARPU) increased from Rs 166 to Rs 173. This is a 4.7% increase, mostly as a result of people switching to more costly plans and tariff increases. By the end of Q3FY25, Vi had 126 million 4G subscribers, up from 125.6 million in Q3FY24. However, from 215.2 million (215.2 crore) in the third quarter of the previous fiscal year to 199.8 million (199.8 crore) in the December quarter, the company’s total customer base decreased.
