Ram Mohan Naidu: According to two airport officials, the license would only be granted following the DGCA’s final examination. Under such circumstances, the airport may be opened on any day after May 15.
Noida International Airport: The airport, which is being constructed at Jewar, Noida, will soon be completed. According to information provided by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, the Noida airport is scheduled to open in May 2025. “We are preparing for the inauguration of Noida Airport and will start it in May,” he told the journalists. The airport was supposed to open on April 17th, according to reports made just days prior to this news.

Obtaining the airport license is taking longer than expected.
The aerodrome license needed to operate at Noida Airport has not yet been granted, according to HT’s report. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is expected to grant this license by April 30, 2025. According to two airport officials, the license will only be granted following the DGCA’s final examination. The airfield can then be opened on any day between May 15 and the end of the month.
What does the term “AIP” mean?
According to officials, the airport’s Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) will go into force on May 15. This indicates that the establishment of this airport has been formally announced by the Indian government. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is responsible for issuing AIPs. The fact that it was published means that the process of obtaining the airport license has advanced one step further. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the DGCA will now conduct the last inspection.

The airport’s geographic location
The total area of Noida International Airport is 1,334 hectares. About 35 kilometers from Greater Noida, it is situated close to the Yamuna Expressway. This airport will be the third commercial airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) and is a significant project of the Uttar Pradesh government. This airport is already close to Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
The foundation stone of
In November 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for Noida Airport. Following this, a validation flight trial was completed successfully in December 2023. This flight is required to inspect the airport’s runway, navigation system, and air traffic control. At the airport, however, development is still ongoing. “The airside work has been completed, but the terminal building work is getting delayed,” an official said. The terminal building’s interior is still unfinished. This explains why the launch of the airline service for regular customers may be delayed even after the inauguration.

The start of flights can be delayed.
It will take several weeks before commercial flights begin, even if the airport is opened in May. Officials state that “the inner part of the terminal must be ready before flights can begin.” “We are sitting with the government and deciding the final date of inauguration,” stated another source. The inauguration can take place at any time after May 15, however the precise date has not yet been determined.
