V Narayanan, the head of the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro), visited Axiom Space’s Houston facility with just a few days to go before the historic Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) is launched.
On June 10, Axiom Space will send Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla to the Space Station for a 14-day expedition.
As both companies get ready for India’s return to human spaceflight after more than 40 years, the Indian space agency chief’s visit concentrated on Axiom’s production and technical skills.

Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is currently set to launch the Ax-4 mission on June 10, 2025, making him the first Indian to visit the International Space Station (ISS) and only the second Indian to fly to space.
As mission pilot, Shukla will accompany mission experts Sawosz Uznaski-Winiewski (Poland) and Tibor Kapu (Hungary), as well as commander Peggy Whitson (USA), on a 14-day scientific mission on the ISS.
The leadership of Axiom Space reaffirmed their dedication to assisting Isro in achieving its space goals during the Isro Chairman’s tour.
About 60 scientific investigations involving 31 countries will be carried out by the Ax-4 mission. Isro has chosen seven microgravity experiments in areas like human biology, food science, and agriculture.
It is anticipated that these initiatives will yield invaluable experience for India’s next space station plans and the Gaganyaan mission.

The visit by the Isro Chairman heralds a new era of public-private cooperation in promoting human spaceflight and is a major turning point in India’s expanding role in international space exploration.
