The EV-focused startup Matter has unveiled the first geared electric bike in India. The e-bike was initially showcased by the company at Automotive Expo 2023. It was also launched at the time. The company is introducing the e-bike with the name AERA. Additionally, it’s been made available in four different versions that include AERA 4000 AERA 500, AERA 5000+, and AERA 6000+. However, the cost and other specifications of AERA 4000, as well as AERA 6000+, have not been announced yet.

The company claims that it is the first geared electric bike. If we look at the cost then the price for AERA 5000 electric motorbike is Rs 1,43,999, and that of an AERA 5500+ is 1.54 lakh. Additionally, it is possible to pre-register exclusively on AERA 5500 as well as AERA more than 5000 on the official website of the company. In addition, when you purchase Matter AERA, customers are assured of 3 years or unlimited kilometer guarantee and three years of roadside support as well as AMC/Labour insurance.
Matter AERA 5000 and AERA 5000+ Features
- Battery: The e-bike is available with two liquid-cooled battery packs – 5 7 kWh and 6 kWh. The 6 kWh pack of batteries will only be available on the AERA 6000+ model.
- Band: At present, the company hasn’t revealed the range of options that is available for both battery packs. It’s claimed that the battery can be fully charged within 5 hours, or fully charged in two hours using a speedy charger.
- The motor and the speed are: 10 kW electric is available as a standard feature in the Matter AERA 5000 and AERA 5500+. It creates power using the Hypershift manual gearbox. In addition, the company claims the electric scooter can go from 0 to 60 kmph in under six seconds.
- Highlights: The AERA sports an LCD touchscreen that is 7 inches wide and has four-way radio, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity. In addition, there’s also an application for smartphones that provides all the relevant information to the user. Four riding options are available available in the application. Additionally, it comes with a 9-axis measuring unit for inertial forces (IMU).
