Delhi’s property tax rule to be changed from July 1! Checks will no longer be accepted

The guidelines for paying property tax rule have been modified by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The MCD has decided to put the changed property tax rule into effect on July 1. Starting on July 1, the MCD will no longer accept checks for property taxes due to instances where checks “bounce.” Property taxes will need to be paid digitally starting next month using UPI, wallets, demand drafts, pay orders, or any other online payment method, according to a statement released by the MCD on Wednesday.

The organization said that property tax payments made through this method will no longer be accepted as of July because of legal concerns resulting from checks that bounce. Additionally, the MCD has appealed to owners and occupants of vacant lands and buildings to pay tax for the year 2024-25 and get a discount of 10 percent on lump sum payments before June 30.
