Let us tell you that Dhoni has the best cricketing mind in world cricket. Dhoni is an expert in understanding the game of cricket best. Under Dhoni’s leadership, Team India won the T20 World Cup in the year 2007 and the ICC ODI World title in 2011. The secret of why Dhoni was made the mentor of Team India for the T20 World Cup, has now been revealed by the BCCI.

Why was Dhoni made a mentor?

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said that India will definitely benefit from Dhoni’s presence in the T20 World Cup. He said, ‘Dhoni has been a great captain. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India has won the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2010 and 2016 Asia Cup, 2011 World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy. Dhoni’s record is amazing. It is really great to have Dhoni as the mentor of the team for the ICC T20 World Cup.

What is special about Dhoni?

The BCCI hopes that Dhoni will change the fortunes of the Indian team just as he had made Team India the champion in the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ICC ODI World. If this happens, then captain Virat Kohli may captain Team India on the field, but the plan will be Dhoni’s. Dhoni will captain Team India from outside the field. Due to this strategy, India will have the best chance of winning the T20 World Cup.

Kohli misses out on big occasions like the World Cup

The biggest problem in the captaincy of Virat Kohli has been that after becoming the captain, he could not win a single major tournament for India. Under the captaincy of Kohli, India was defeated by Pakistan in the final of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Then in the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup, New Zealand broke the dream by defeating it. After this, Virat Kohli also missed out on winning the title in the 2021 ICC World Test Championship.

Dhoni did not make much changes in the team and that is why he was such a better captain. He never made anyone in the team feel insecure. Dhoni used to play almost the same team throughout the tournament. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, almost the same team lived from the league stage to the knockout stage.
