April School Holidays: Check the full list of closure dates

In April 2025, there will be a lot of holidays for students. Find out which events will have holidays and when the schools will be closed this month.

The new school year has begun, and pupils will have plenty of time off in April 2025. There will be school holidays this month because of several significant national, religious, and regional festivities. Due to the arrival of significant holidays like Ram Navami and Mahavir Jayanti, April will be jam-packed with holidays from the start. In addition, by the middle and end of the month, numerous governments will be granting holidays. Please inform us of the dates that the schools will be closed this month.

Sunday, April 6th: Ram Navami

This year’s event, which commemorates Lord Shri Ram’s birth anniversary, falls on a Sunday. However, because Chaitra Navratri is coming to an end, some schools might also proclaim April 5 (Saturday) a vacation.

Thursday, April 10th, is Mahavir Jayanti.

For the Jain community, the anniversary of Lord Mahavir’s birth is immensely significant. Many states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, have closed their schools on this day.

Baisakhi is on Sunday, April 13.

Baisakhi holds particular meaning in Northern India and Punjab. The day is observed as a harvest celebration and the Sikh New Year. It is unlikely to be a separate holiday, though, because it falls on Sunday.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti/Tamil New Year is Monday, April 14.

The anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s birth is celebrated as a national holiday. In addition, schools in the states of South India will be closed on this day because it is also the celebration of the Vishu festival in Kerala and the Tamil New Year in Tamil Nadu.

Good Friday is Friday, April 18.

On this day, Christians pray in remembrance of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. The majority of schools in the nation will be closed on this day, which is regarded as a significant religious holiday worldwide.

Holidays on Saturday and Sunday

In addition, regular weekly holidays will cause schools to have holidays. On April 6, 13, 20, and 27, schools will not be open. The second and fourth Saturdays, which this year fell on April 12 and 26, are holidays in numerous states.
