Himachal Tourism: After Covid, tourists broke all previous records in Himachal, more than 66 lakh people visited till May

Tourism in Himachal after Corona: Himachal tourism has broken records this year after the Corona epidemic. More tourists have turned to Himachal Pradesh in the month of May this year as compared to the year 2019.

Tourists in Himachal Pradesh: This time of Himachal’s tourist season, which has been hit by Covid-19 for two years, has broken many previous records. It is also expected that in view of the crowd of tourists in Himachal, this time this figure will be around 2 crores. This time the tourist season had started 15 days before the increase in heat. Due to this tourists from the plains are turning to the mountains in search of peace.

HIMACHAL-PRADESH

Till May 31, 66 lakh 79 thousand 145 tourists have reached Himachal Pradesh. This number of visitors is anticipated to increase significantly in the month of June. However, the number of foreign tourists has come down drastically. Out of these, the number of foreign tourists is only 4303. Whereas in 2020 only 32 lakhs and in 2021 only 55 lakhs tourists visited Himachal Pradesh in the whole year.

This time more tourists arrived in the month of May as compared to 2019

Amit Kashyap, Managing Director, Himachal Tourism Corporation said that before Covid, in 2019, 1 crore 72 lakh 12 thousand 107 tourists had come in a year. While 17 lakh 27 thousand 329 tourists arrived in Himachal in May, 17 lakh 81 thousand 885 tourists arrived in Himachal in April. In comparison, in the current year, 17 lakh 47 thousand 727 tourists visited Himachal in the month of April while 19 lakh 67 thousand 984 tourists reached Himachal in the month of May. That is, the number of tourists increased during the month of May in 2022 as compared to 2019.

A decline in the number of foreign tourists

But the number of foreign visitors has drastically decreased. In May 2019, 41 thousand 276 foreign tourists came to Himachal, which has come down to only 2020 in 2022 because the foreign tourism sector has not yet appeared due to Corona. He said that due to the increase in the income of tourists, Himachal tourism rules are also earning a lot and the corporation is recovering from the loss of Corona.

Nowadays, there is a gathering of tourists in the tourist places of Himachal. Roads remain jammed for hours while hotels are packed. In Shimla itself, 5000 vehicles are entering daily. The number of tourists increases even more on weekends. People associated with the Himachal tourism sector are very happy with the crowd of tourists.
