ITR Filing: There has been a big change in the rules for filling ITR! Know how income tax will be filed now

Online Filing ITR: Taxpayers who were unable to file Income Tax Return (ITR Filing) can file it by following this process with a fine of Rs 5000 till 31 March 2022. There has been a change in the rules for filing an income tax return. 

There is news of work for those filing income tax returns. There is important information for those who have not filed Income Tax Return till now. Taxpayers who could not file Income Tax Return (ITR Filing) due to the problems being faced in the Income Tax Portal, can fill it till 31 March 2022 with a fine of Rs 5000.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said, “Physical filing of tax audit reports and income tax returns are no longer practical.” Some technical problems have been seen on the Income Tax Portal from the Gujarat High Court. Therefore, the Central Government had asked to consider allowing physical filing of returns. The Gujarat Income Tax Bar Association had filed a petition in the High Court demanding the submission of a physical copy of the tax audit report and ITR.

Know what the court said 

A bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Nisha M Thakor of the Gujarat High Court heard the matter and said, ‘In view of the problems being faced on the Income Tax Portal, the government should allow physical filing. The CBDT of the government should also adopt some practical methods for filing ITR.

Taxpayers will get the bumper benefit

Let us tell you that if the government gives permission for physical filing under the problems being faced on the income tax portal, then taxpayers will get bumper benefits from it. On the other hand, the Chartered Accountant Group had filed a PIL in this regard. He said, ‘The new Income Tax Portal is not functioning properly. Therefore, the date of filing of the tax audit report and return (ITR filing deadline) for the assessment year 2021-22 should be extended.

But CBDT, while replying to this PIL, said that taxpayers will now have to file ITR online, no physical filing will be possible. That is, the chartered accountant groups were disappointed. However, if you have also not filed income tax, then let us know how you can file it online. 

File ITR online like this

  • For this, first, log on to https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal.
  • Now go to e-File>Income Tax Returns>File Income Tax Return here.
  • Now select assessment year, filing type, and status, and click on proceed.
  • Now select the ITR and select the reason for filing it.
  • If the payment is made by filling in the necessary information, then pay it.
  • Now submit the return by clicking on the preview.
  • Now after this, click on proceed for verification.
  • Now click on Verification Mode.
  • Thereafter, e-verify ITR by filling EVC/OTP and send the signed copy of ITR-V to CPC for verification.
