Due to rising petrol prices and limited reserves, all the auto industries in the world today are turning to alternative fuels. As a result of this, electric vehicles have received a boost in the last few years. In this episode, mechanical engineering students of SRM University-AP have designed an electric bike. This electric bike has been made with more range in less price. At the same time, Dr. Venkata Nori, Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, said that a patent had been filed for the design of the portable battery mechanism.

45KM will run for 15 rupees
The bike was developed by Ravi Teja Reddy, A Chaitanya, Pabolu Mohan Aditya, K Praveen, K Yashaswini, Sravya, Vasu, and Priyanka, who is pursuing mechanical engineering at SRM University-AP. He said that the battery takes about two and a half hours to charge and on a single charge it costs around Rs 15. At the same time, it gives a range of 45 km on a single charge battery. Apart from this, the top speed of this electric motorcycle is 60 kilometers per hour.
The students told that they designed a retrofit electric bike using their technology with the help of Amara Raja Batteries (ARBL). At the same time, he says that as a measure to control air pollution, governments around the world can further promote the use of e-vehicles in the coming days.
Convert a regular bike to an e-bike
Converting IC engined bikes to e-bikes is considered a huge task by the team. Sharing his future plans, Aditya said, “We are working to incorporate the best possible features to make the e-bike more reliable. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof D Narayana Rao for his continued support. In addition, Dr. Venkat Nori and Dr. Jayaprakash inspired us to build a stable model by helping us continually improve our design to make our model more cost-effective.
