SBI Alert: Hundreds of thousands of consumers have been notified by SBI! If you scan a QR code for money, you will be charged.

SBI Alert: If you receive a QR code from anyone, do not scan it, even if it is by accident, according to the bank. It’s possible that money will vanish from your account if you do so. While alerting its clients, SBI provided some safety suggestions.

Customers of SBI, be aware: With the country’s growing digitization, the number of cases of online fraud and cybercrime is steadily rising. In this sequence, aunty, in recent years, examples of fraud have also surfaced as a result of mobile QR codes. The country’s largest public sector bank, SBI (State Bank of India), has issued a warning to its 44 crore clients in light of an increase in QR code fraud. The bank has stated that if you receive a QR code from anyone, do not scan it, even if it is by accident. You may become a pauper as a result of this, and money may disappear from your account.

SBI has sent out a tweet to its millions of clients. ‘You do not need to scan the QR code to receive the money,’ the bank noted in a tweet. Always keep safety precautions in mind when making UPI payments.

What is QR Code Fraud and how does it work?

According to SBI, the QR code is only used to make payments, not to receive payments. If you receive a message or email instructing you to scan the QR code in order to receive payment in this circumstance, do not scan it, even if it is by accident. Your account may be emptied as a result of this. When you scan a QR code, you don’t get money; instead, you get a notice stating the money has been removed from your bank account, according to the bank.

When transferring funds, make sure you use the scanner properly.

Under no circumstances should you seek solutions from anybody other than official sources. If you have any payment or technical concerns, go to the app’s help section.
