‘Recently revised pay schedules for state government employees have been adopted to assure benefits of Rs6000 crore to 2.25 lakh employees,’ said Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. However, it was felt that the revised pay scales for several categories have some inconsistencies. In addition to the two possibilities already provided, employees will be given a third option. In addition to the multiples of 2.25 and 2.59, the CM has offered a third alternative for the employees. A direct raise of 15% would be the third option.
The Dearness Allowance has been increased by 3%.
Jai Ram Thakur said that state government retirees would be paid pensions based on the Punjab government’s new wage standards. 1.75 lakh pensioners will receive financial benefits of Rs 2000 crore as a result of this. Let us inform you that the CM has declared that employees will receive a three percent increase in dearness allowance (DA Hike). That is, employees will now receive 31 percent DA, the same to the state’s IAS officers. A total of 500 crores would be spent from the government’s coffers.
The annual income cap has also been raised.
Employees’ DA has now been enhanced from 28% to 31% as a result of the DA increase. In addition, the annual income ceiling has been raised from Rs 35000 to Rs 50000 in order to benefit from various social schemes and pensions. ‘Police constables appointed after 2015 would be eligible for a higher pay rate on par with other categories of personnel,’ stated CM Jairam. All constables who are eligible for a higher pay tier will receive it immediately. From 2020, employees hired on a contract in 2015 will be eligible for a higher pay grade. At the same time, contract workers have a two-year period of regularisation. After two years of regularisation, employees are promoted to a higher wage band. Constables will be subject to the same rules.
The federal government has the ability to boost spending.
The central government, on the other hand, has the option of increasing the DA of central employees once more. According to the AICPI index, the dearness allowance was increased to 34 percent through December 2021. That is, it has risen by 2%. If the CPI (IW) level is 125 by December 2021, a 3% rise in the dearness allowance is a foregone conclusion. In other words, overall DA will rise by 3% to 34%. It will be paid beginning in January 2022, and central employees’ salaries will rise.
