The federal government is making plans to give health insurance to all of the country’s citizens. It has been decided to draught the world’s largest health insurance plan. According to estimates, the Ayushman Bharat scheme will cover 8 and a half crore new households (40 crore individuals). These individuals are not yet insured by any healthcare plan. The Ayushman Bharat scheme has already benefited 69 crore, individuals, across the country.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme would cover about 109 crore people in the country as soon as it begins. Aside from this, 26 crore people are already covered by various health insurance plans. As a result, India will become the world’s only country to provide health insurance to 135 million people. The scheme’s blueprint has been produced by NHA. The blueprint for this scheme was established by the National Health Authority (NHA) in partnership with NITI Aayog. To take benefit of the scheme, each individual must pay a premium of up to Rs.250 – Rs.300. A family is thought to have five members on average, according to the government. Approximately 70% of the country’s population is insured by health insurance. The remaining 30% of the population is expected to be included in the new Ayushman scheme.
Agricultural workers, private workers, daily wagers, self-help groups, employees of cab businesses like Ola-Uber, Zomato, e-commerce, truck drivers associations, food business operators, and others are included in this.
