Truecaller’s Call Recording Feature Will Be Discontinued Effective May 11: Google has taken significant steps to prohibit third-party call recording Android apps. Google will remove all call recording apps from the Google Play store starting tomorrow, May 11. In fact, all legitimate Android call recording apps will cease to function. So, if you wish to record voice calls on your phone, you must use your smartphone’s native call recording capability. You will not be able to record calls after May 11 if your smartphone does not have a built-in call recording feature.
Truecaller calls will not be able to be recorded.
Many users use Truecaller, one of the most popular dialer apps in India, to record voice calls. In India, call recording is one of the most popular features of the Truecaller app. Truecaller has also announced that beginning of May 11, it would no longer allow users to record phone calls anywhere in the world.
What did the corporation have to say?
“At Truecaller, we have launched call recording for all Android handsets based on significant consumer requests,” a Truecaller spokeswoman stated in a report. Truecaller’s call recording feature is available to all users, is permission-based, and is required by Google Accessibility API. Using Google+ to enable the functionality was free. However, we are no longer able to provide call recording owing to new Google Developer Program limits.’
These smartphones can record phone calls.
According to Truecaller, this will not affect handsets with built-in call recording. Some smartphone manufacturers, such as Xiaomi, Samsung, OnePlus, and Oppo, have a built-in call recorder feature that will continue to function until May 11.
For many years, Google has taken action against call recording. It all started with Android 10 when Google declared that call recording will be abolished as part of its privacy and security strategy.
