Mahindra had earlier announced that the eXUV300 electric car would be launched in the third or fourth quarter of this fiscal. Now the company has confirmed the launch of its long-awaited electric SUV in the first quarter of 2023. Mahindra had earlier showcased its small electric SUV as a pre-production concept at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The eXUV300 will be part of a range of electric vehicles developed by Mahindra. The company announced in 2021 that it would launch 16 electric vehicles over the next 7 years. The new model will include 8 electric SUVs and 8 light vehicles. Mahindra recently ridiculed three electric SUVs that are expected to debut later this year. The company recently signed an agreement with Volkswagen regarding the possible use of MEB platform components in its upcoming catalog of ‘Born’ electric types.
The eXUV300 concept from the 2022 Auto Expo showcased the latest production model with only a few cosmetic changes over the standard XUV300 with the combustion engine. The noticeable difference rests on the closed grille and front bumper, blue body highlights, standard rearview mirrors and various wheels, and the absence of interior lights.
If we go with the vision then we can expect a productive car to experience a positive change in petrol and diesel though some features like the 2022 car system will be modified.
Regarding the powertrain, the company had said at the 2020 show that the SUV will upgrade to a 130 bhp single electric engine with a 40kWh battery and a range of up to 300 km.
