The tech behemoth Google will discontinue one of its services. This year, Google will discontinue Hangouts. For users of the workplace, it was already shuttered in February. Google is currently migrating free, individual Hangouts users to Chat.
Users who are currently utilising the Hangouts mobile app will receive a prompt to switch to Chat, according to Google’s blog. Users of Gmail’s web-based Hangouts won’t be prompted to convert to chat until July.
However, desktop users can still utilise Hangouts till November. Google has stated that it will notify users at least one month in advance of the move of conversation from the Hangouts website. Let us clarify that GChat is not Google Chat (or Google Talk).
It was prohibited earlier this month. When users switched from Hangouts to chat in 2018, the firm was the one who spoke up the most. After that, in 2020, this feature became free for all users.
