One of Google’s services is about to be discontinued. The request has been made for users of this service to move to Chat. Understand how it will impact you.
The tech behemoth Google will discontinue one of its services. This year, Google will discontinue Hangouts. For users of the workplace, it was already shuttered in February. Google is currently migrating free, individual Hangouts users to Chat.
Users who are currently utilising the Hangouts mobile app will receive a prompt to switch to Chat, according to Google’s blog. Users of Gmail’s web-based Hangouts won’t be prompted to convert to chat until July.
However, desktop users can still utilise Hangouts till November. Google has stated that it will notify users at least one month in advance of the move of conversation from the Hangouts website. Let us clarify that GChat is not Google Chat (or Google Talk).
It was prohibited earlier this month. When users switched from Hangouts to chat in 2018, the firm was the one who spoke up the most. After that, in 2020, this feature became free for all users.
In this scenario, Google will automatically move your previous discussions from Hangouts to Chat if you are still using that service. In addition, the business offers its customers the option of takeout service. Users can utilise this to get their Hangouts data before it is discontinued in November.
Google has announced that it is providing a number of features for customers who are transitioning to Chat. In-line thread space can be made in addition to direct calls. In addition, many photographs can be shared or viewed.
