Radha Ashtami 2025

Radha Ashtami 2025: On the Ashtami of Shukla Paksha, Radha ji was born, and on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha, Lord Krishna was born. Although they were born on the same day, the Pakshas were not the same. While Radha ji was born in Shukla Paksha, Krishna ji was born in Krishna Paksha. Because of this, the festival of Radha Ashtami is observed precisely fifteen days following Janmashtami.

Since Radha Ashtami 2025 marks the anniversary of Radha Rani’s birth, it is regarded as a highly auspicious day in Hinduism. The festival of Radha Ashtami is observed on the Ashtami date of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada, which falls on August 31 this year, according to the Hindu calendar. The Vaishnav community and followers of Lord Krishna place a lot of significance on this event, which is observed 15 days after Krishna Janmashtami. On this day, temples devoted to Radha Rani execute special prayers, kirtans, and other rituals.

At the same time, everyone is familiar with the tales of Radha Rani and Lord Krishna’s love and devotion. However, nobody is aware of how Radha Rani passed away, therefore let’s hear the narrative.

Radha Ashtami 2025

What caused Radha Rani’s death?

The Puranas state that Radha ji was born on the Ashtami of Shukla Paksha, and Lord Krishna was born on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha. Although they were born on the same day, the Pakshas were not the same. While Radha ji was born in Shukla Paksha, Krishna ji was born in Krishna Paksha. For this reason, precisely fifteen days after Janmashtami, the holiday of Radha Ashtami is observed.

The names of Radha Rani’s mother and father were Kirti and Vrishbhanu, respectively. Barsana is where Radha ji was born and raised. She also enjoyed playing in Vrindavan, and her devotion to Lord Krishna was incredibly wonderful and extraordinary. Every gopi, notably Radha ji, is claimed to have been utterly enthralled by the music of Krishna ji’s flute when he played it.

The marriage of Lord Krishna and Radha Rani is not recorded in most of the Puranas, however it is claimed in Brahmavaivart Purana that Brahma ji got them married in Bhandirvan. The location of this marriage is still in Bhandirvan today.

Here’s how Radha Rani passed away.

It was challenging to meet Radha ji after Lord Krishna traveled to Mathura and subsequently Dwarka. They later had a meeting in Kurukshetra during a solar eclipse. After being released from the main responsibilities of her life, Radha Rani arrived in Dwarka and was bestowed with a respectable position in the palace by Krishna ji. She moved to a village close to the forest since she was unable to experience the heavenly love in the palace’s royal life.

Her health gradually began to decline. She makes a final call to Krishna ji. She hears Krishna ji play a lovely flute tune that makes her think of Vrindavan. Radha Rani departs from her body and her spirit unites with Lord Krishna as she listens to the flute’s melody. In the Puranas, this tale is regarded as the most genuine. The profundity of the holy bond between Radha and Krishna is conveyed to us in this story of divine love.
