Kia Carens Vs Toyota Innova Crysta Sales: The Indian MPV segment has seen tremendous growth this year. From January-May 2022, around 138,322 MPVs have been sold in the country including Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6, Kia Carens, Toyota Innova Crysta, and Renault Triber. The overall market share of MPVs in Indian passenger vehicle sales has increased to 9.2 percent and the sales figure has increased by 54 percent as compared to the same period last year, while interestingly, the number of SUVs in its first five months has increased. Sales have gone up for years. An increase of 21 percent has been registered.

Thanks to the Ertiga and XL6, Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the MPV segment with a market share of 55 percent. Apart from this, the sales figures of Kia Carens launched in February 2022 are shocking. The South Korean automaker has sold 23,058 units of the Karens MPV since its launch, while Toyota’s best-selling Innova Crysta MPV has sold a total of 23,700 units from January to May 2022. There is a slight difference in sales of 642 units in both the MPVs. , At the same time, Renault Triber comes after it with sales of 13,700 units.

Hardeep Singh Brar, Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India, said post-Covid customers have become “more liberal in their spending”. This is the reason why the sale of utility vehicles (UV) has increased in the country. Currently, there is a waiting period of up to 1.4 years (74-75 weeks) on the entry-level variants of the Kia Carense in some regions. The automaker is facing an acute shortage of semiconductor chips and long waiting periods for MPVs due to ever-increasing demand.

Kia Carens come with three engine options. It gets a choice of a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine (115bhp), 1.4L turbo petrol engine (140bhp), and 1.5L diesel engine (115bhp). These include the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox, 7-speed dual-clutch, and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
