How to Apply for US Visitor Visa: There is bad news for those planning to visit the US. People will have to wait till 2024 for a visitor visa. If you go to the website of the US State Department, you will find that there is a waiting period of one and a half years. This means that if you apply now, you will get an appointment between March-April 2024. The website shows that the average waiting period at the US Consulate in New Delhi is 522 days for visitor visas and 471 days for student visas.

What is the waiting period?

According to the website’s visa page, “Estimated wait times for interview appointments at U.S. embassies or consulates may vary from week to week depending on employees’ workloads.” These are only estimates and do not guarantee the availability of appointments.’

What did the US embassy say about the delay?

On reports of delays, the US Embassy said that the State Department is committed to providing both immigrant and nonimmigrant travelers with valid travel to the US. The US government is taking steps to reduce waiting times and backlogs by working on recruiting and training new employees.

Doubled recruitment
