Indian Railways: Senior citizens will get discount in rail fare again! But this time it will be the rule

Discount on Indian Railway Tickets: Once again great news is coming for those traveling by train. On the demand of the people, Indian Railways is again considering giving concession in fares to senior citizens. Senior citizens and other passenger groups, including athletes, will start receiving discounted tickets if this law is enacted. The railways faced criticism in the last days for not reinstating the exemption.

Age limit may change
According to the information received from the sources, the railway may change the age limit criteria to give relaxation the ticket price again. The government is expected to provide concessional fare facilities to people above 70 years of age. Earlier this facility was for women of 58 years and men who have completed 60 years of age.

The exemption was stopped in the Corona period,
In fact, till March 2020, women 58 years of age or above were given 50 percent concession in fares by the Railways and 40 percent for men aged 60 years or more. , This exemption was available for traveling by train in any class. But this facility was stopped when the movement of trains was restored after the Corona period. At that time, this decision of the railways was criticized a lot by the people.

80 trains have a premium tatkal scheme,
It is also being considered by the Railways that the ‘Premium Tatkal’ scheme should be started on all trains. This will help in getting more revenue. With the implementation of this rule, it will be easier for the Railways to bear the burden of concessions. This program is now used on roughly 80 trains. A quota created by the Railways to reserve specific seats with dynamic fare pricing is known as the Premium Tatkal program.
