High-Security Registration Plate: There is big news for the drivers in Noida-Ghaziabad. Now the police are going to take action against those who drive bikes or cars without HSRP number plates. The vehicles which do not have this number plate will also be challaned. Under this, a fine of Rs 5 thousand will be collected from the drivers. This action is going to start on February 16. Not only Noida, this campaign will also be run in the neighboring city of Ghaziabad. According to a report in TOI, the Uttar Pradesh Police has directed police chiefs of all districts to launch a campaign and impose fines on violators.
What is HSRP number plate?
HSRP stands for High-Security Number Plate. In India, this number plate has now been made mandatory for all vehicles. This number plate is given with all new cars nowadays. However, in old vehicles, you will have to install this number plate yourself. For this, you can apply at the car showroom or online. This number plate has a unique 7-digit laser code apart from your registration number. It cannot be easily removed or erased.
Why the campaign is being run
With an aim to keep track of stolen vehicles, the Center has made it mandatory for all vehicles sold in India before April 2019 to install HSRP. UP’s Additional DG (Traffic and Road Safety) Anupam Kulshrestha in a letter to police chiefs has said that different periods were set for installing HSRP in different categories of registered vehicles, which is ending on February 15. Is.
“Action is expected against such vehicles which have not been fitted with high-security registration plates after the expiry of the prescribed period i.e. after February 15,” the letter said. Noida DCP (Traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav said, “The traffic department will follow the instruction and from February 16, all vehicles without HSRP will be fined Rs 5,000 for bad number plates.”
