This year, Apple will introduce its iPhone 15 series. The series will consist of four models. In the next series, Apple will reportedly incorporate the proximity sensor in the “Dynamic Island” region. The proximity sensor on the iPhone 15 series will be integrated inside the dynamic island region rather than being situated at the bottom, as it is on the iPhone 14, claims Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In the iPhone 15, a dynamic island design will look like this.
While all iPhone 15 models have the same Dynamic Island design as the iPhone 14 Pro, Kuo stated in a tweet that the proximity sensor’s positioning is different. The proximity sensor is situated near the display’s bottom on the iPhone 14 Pro (outside the dynamic island). In contrast, the proximity sensor is positioned inside the dynamic island in the 15 series, essentially maintaining the same dynamic island area.
Later, there will be an under-display Face ID capability.
When the user holds the phone close to their ear, the proximity sensor recognizes this and turns off the screen. Until 2025 or later, Apple apparently won’t add the under-display Face ID technology to the iPhone. The under-display Face ID functionality won’t be available on the iPhone 15 Pro due to technological difficulties, according to display analyst Ross Young. The iPhone 17 Pro is likely to have this capability.
