People frequently fill up their car-bike tank at the petrol station. Yet, doing so might be harmful. In this regard, the Indian government has published recommendations and suggested against filling the tank. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution has requested that vehicle owners refrain from filling the petrol tank in a circular that was released on March 6, 2023. The Legal Metrology Division has been made aware of an instance where the vehicle’s service manual listed the erroneous gasoline tank capacity, according to a ministry circular. It is asserted that the company’s advertised tank capacity is between 15% and 20% less than what is actually present.
Considering these factors, avoid filling the tank.
1. At the petrol station, where the temperature is extremely low, underground tanks are created. The same oil must survive high temperatures when placed in your car, which causes the amount of fuel to multiply many times. There is a chance of oil leaking in this circumstance.
2. Because fuel is a highly combustible chemical, leaks could happen if a vehicle’s fuel tank is full and it is parked on an inclined surface.
3. When the tank is full, more pressure is produced. As a result, the engine receives more fuel than is necessary. This directly impacts the engine’s performance and releases more hydrocarbons.
4. These situations frequently come to light when consumers ask the attendant at the petrol station to fill their tank. When more oil arrives than the company’s declared fuel tank capacity, the customers begin to argue. Consumers believe they have been taken advantage of.
5. The ministry has asked automakers to warn buyers not to fill car-bike petrol tanks all the way. There should be some room left in it.
