The Dearness Allowance (DA) for current and former state employees has been increased by the Himachal Pradesh government.
DA rise
This choice was made following the state’s previous pension program’s reactivation. During the state-level celebration of Himachal Day on April 15, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu announced the DA hike. The state government has also released a notification in this regard. More than 3 lakh people, including 2.15 lakh employees and 90,000 retired employees, will gain from the hike in DA.
Himachal Pradesh
Formerly, the Himachal Pradesh government’s employees and retirees received dearness allowance at a rate of 31%. Pensioners and eligible employees will begin receiving benefits at the enhanced rate of 34%. Additionally, they will receive compensation based on the arrears. The state administration has calculated that this choice will add 500 crore rupees to the state exchequer’s burden.
Payment in cash
The allowance received after April 2023 will be paid in cash, while the arrears from January 2022 to March 31 2023 will be paid in the General Provident Fund account, according to a notice from the state’s chief secretary. Retired employees will begin receiving their dearness allowance in cash on January 1, 2022.
