New regulation for Ration card holders, it will be advantageous if wheat-rice is not available

This information will make you pleased if you have a ration card and have not yet gotten your ration for the month of April. This information is specifically for Kerala citizens. Holders of ration cards in the colors pink and yellow have been mandated to make the payment on behalf of the State Food Commission of Kerala. These funds will be distributed to cardholders who were unable to purchase ration products in April due to a server error with the E-PoS system.

2.66 lakh cardholders were unable to receive rations.

Official statistics show that in April, 2.66 lakh pink and yellow card holders were unable to receive rations. According to the commission’s directive, ration card holders who were unable to receive their ration owing to a server issue will receive a food allowance. In accordance with the National Food Safety Act (NFSA), food allotment is computed. It is 1.25 times the ratio’s minimal price.

For instance, the government will provide the cardholder a food allowance of Rs 125 if the floor price of the ration is Rs 100. There are 41.43 lakh ration card holders in the state. 5.85 lakh of them have yellow cards, and 35.58 lakhs have pink cards. 38.77 lakh of these cardholders received rations in April. Similarly, rations were sent to 39.65 lakh card members in February and 39.57 lakhs in March. Five days in April saw no ration distribution because of a problem with the E-PoS system.

making it difficult for many people with ration cards to obtain food. Following this, on the basis of the complaint of former MLA Joseph M Puthussery, the State Food Commission directed to grant food allowance to the individuals who do not get rations.
