Most homes now have gas connections thanks to the Modi government. For individuals with an LPG gas connection, there will soon be some very good news. According to recent reports, the government may decide to restart its LPG cylinder subsidy program. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Energy Transition Committee advocated providing subsidies for seven to eight cylinders each year in its report. In this circumstance, it is anticipated that the government will act swiftly.
LPG connections were provided to 9.5 crore families.
The government may rethink providing subsidies, according to information on the restart of LPG cylinder subsidies that was published in a reputable newspaper. ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’ was launched by the Modi government in 2016; let us inform you that. Since then, 9.5 crore low-income families have received LPG connections till September 2022. In the country today, LPG is used in 30 crore homes.
Previously, 12 cylinders were eligible for the subsidy.
The research also stated that 85 percent of the nation’s households are unable to completely utilize LPG for cooking as a result of its high cost. Let us inform you that, prior to the Corona era, the government provided subsidies on 12 cylinders annually. However, granting LPG subsidies for eight-cylinder vehicles is currently being discussed. The entire amount of government subsidies will drop by 13 to 15% if the quantity of subsidized LPG cylinders is decreased.
Eight cylinders are often thought to be needed each year for cooking in a home.
According to the paper, the subsidy for the wealthy should remain in place. In addition, it was claimed that families who use three cylinders per year would receive more assistance than those who use four to seven. Let us remind you that three-fourths of families in the nation still lack access to LPG. These families make less than Rs 10,000 each month.
