Vikram Rathore, the batting coach for India, stated that despite their subpar performances, fans of Gill & Iyer will need to exercise patience. During the second Test at Visakhapatnam, Vikram Rathore counseled his team to use caution when handling England’s aggression. Despite holding a 190-run lead in the first innings, India was defeated by 28 runs in the first Test at Hyderabad. Ollie Pope put on a 196-run inning for England in their ‘baseball’ match against India.
The second test will be played by Gill and Iyer.
In Visakhapatnam, the second test match between India and England will begin on Friday. At the press conference, Vikram Rathod stated, “There are young batsmen in our team who haven’t played a lot of Test cricket.” Therefore, we must exercise some tolerance with them. I do not doubt that (Shreyas) Iyer, (Yashshvi) Jaiswal, and (Shubhman) Gill will eventually play significant roles. In the opening over of his fifth Test match in Hyderabad, Jaiswal amassed 80 runs, but Gill and Iyer were unable to score. Iyer has only played 13 tests, compared to Gill’s 21. In his last nine innings of Test cricket, Gill has not reached a half-century. Iyer is also having trouble with his form.
India’s batting is lacking in discipline.
Rathod believes that India’s batting in the second innings of the Hyderabad Test may have lacked discipline. “Could they have played with more discipline?” Rathod questioned. They might be able to accomplish that. They must decide on this and devise a strategy. Rathore stated that no-hitter can become proficient at the sweepstroke overnight, even though England’s batsmen employed it well against the Indian spinners. “You have to practice to get ready for it,” Rathore remarked. Increasing the number of shots in your game is always advantageous.
Team India dropped some major clues.
Rathore stated that he anticipates the batters on the side doing better in the second Test, as the home team will be without Virat Kohli once more. “Playing with passion is not the same as playing aggressive cricket,” Rathod declared. I want them to have a passionate game. They should seize the opportunity to score some runs if it presents itself. After assessing the pitch and surrounding circumstances, they must make a choice. Which stroke on the pitch is the best or safest should be understood by the batsman.
