There is important news for you if you own an Apple Watch or iPhone. It has been claimed that Apple has made updates to the normal warranty coverage for these two devices. It is now not covered under warranty for iPhones or Apple Watches to repair tiny screen cracks. This was not the case before. Such cracks were previously covered by the warranty if the equipment had no other damage or crash marks. To have the tiny cracks in the screen fixed, users will now need to spend money. Allow us to get into more depth about it.
Users will now need to make payments.
As per a 9to5Mac source, Apple has directed its authorized repair centers and shops to take into all types of minor cracks as accidental damage, which means that users will have to pay money to get such cracks repaired. However, this change is currently applicable only for iPhone and Apple Watch. Repair cover is still available for minor cracks on the screen in the warranty of iPad and Mac.
Policy confusion
It’s important to remember that the first one-year basic warranty did not include coverage for deep markings or other cosmetic damage to the phone. However, small cracks were occasionally fixed for free even if they were deemed screen flaws. Because of this, there was previously some ambiguity in the policy, and each service center used to make its own decisions. This ambiguity is eliminated and a unified rule is applied by the new policy.
Why did the business make this choice?
Although Apple hasn’t stated its official reasoning for the change, it’s probably because they wants to lower repair costs and streamline the warranty procedure.
