In the Indian auto industry, SUVs are quickly gaining popularity. SUVs are becoming more and more popular among consumers, which is contributing to the segment’s growing market share. In May 2024, Tata Punch emerged as the top-selling SUV, trailed by the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Brezza, and several other models. Let’s examine the top 7 SUV sales in India in May 2024.
Tata Punch
Tata Punch, with 18,949 sales, was number one on the list. Year over year (YoY), its revenues have grown by 70%. Prices for this small SUV range from Rs 6.13 lakh to Rs 10.20 lakh (ex-showroom), making it reasonably priced.
The Hyundai Creta
With 14,662 units sold per month, the Hyundai Creta is the second-best-selling SUV in May 2024. However, sales grew by only 1% on a year-on-year basis. In May 2023, 14,449 units were sold.
The Maruti Brezza
Third place went to Maruti Brezza. In May 2023, 13,398 units were sold; last month, 14,186 units were sold. In other words, there has been a 6% annual growth. Maruti Brezza prices (ex-showroom) range from Rs 8.34 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh.
The Mahindra Scorpio
With 13,717 units sold overall, Mahindra Scorpio—both the Classic and the N—took fourth place. 9,318 units were sold in May 2023. In other words, a 47% annual rise was noted.
The Maruti Fronx
With 12,681 sold, the SUV Fronx, built on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, ranked fifth overall. This SUV saw a 29% increase in sales over the previous year. Fronx starts at Rs 7.51 lakh (ex-showroom) in pricing.
Nexon Tata
The company’s second best-selling model is the Tata Nexon. Annually, its revenues have decreased by 21%. Sales in May 2023 were 14,423 units; by May 2024, they had dropped to 11,457 units.
Mahindra XUV 3XO
Mahindra has introduced the XUV 3XO, an upgraded model of the XUV300. Customers have shown it good attention. In May 2024, the XUV 3XO sold 10,000 units, a 95% year-over-year increase.
