These days, over half of the top 5 sales are dominated by alternative fuel sources. Sales of the micro SUV Punch consist of 47% CNG and electric, while CNG is also quite popular with the WagonR (45%), Brezza (27%), and Ertiga (58%).
India’s best-selling automobile
is now Tata Motors’ Punch, a micro SUV’. It has surpassed the WagonR from Maruti Suzuki. Punch has sold more than 1,26,000 units between January and July of 2024. But in July, the Hyundai Creta took the first spot and the Punch dropped to fourth. Data from the automotive market research company JATO Dynamics reveals this information. The Punch’s rising popularity in recent months has put an end to Maruti Suzuki’s hegemony at the top.
Benefited from CNG
This demonstrates the increasing popularity of alternative fuel options, which account for over half of the top 5 sales. Punch’s sales are made up of 47% CNG and electric, and CNG also accounts for a sizable portion of WagonR (45%), Brezza (27%), and Ertiga (58%). According to specialists in the auto industry, Punch has risen to the top by establishing a new category for itself. In addition, its fuel combination of CNG and electricity has given it a competitive advantage.
Why is punch becoming increasingly popular?
Automobile dealers concur that the Punch’s fuel blend is to blame for its present top gear run. A dealer in Chennai stated, “It has grown from just 79,000 units last January-July to 1.26 lakh units now, thanks to its electric and CNG variants.” The other four in the top five list have either CNG or diesel as the only option over petrol.
