The Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt, two recently released SUVs, are making waves in the Indian market. In the small SUV market, both cars are launching new models. The unique aspect is that these two vehicles were launched near one another.
Tata Curvv sale
The Tata Curve is a little SUV. Since its inception, Curve has sold well; 3455 units were sold in August, which is a respectable amount. The first electric vehicle (EV), the Curve, had a starting price of Rs 17.49 lakh when it was introduced. There are two battery pack configurations available for the Curvv EV: 45kWh and 55kWh. The automaker also unveiled the Curvv’s gasoline engine (ICE) variant, starting at Rs 9.99 lakh. It has two turbo petrol engine options, one of which is a new direct-injection turbo petrol engine. Along with this, there is also an option of a diesel engine.
Citroen BasaltÂ
With sales of 579 units in August 2024, Citroen Basalt is off to a strong start. Despite its small size, this number is respectable for the Citroen brand. Its sales are anticipated to rise in the upcoming days. The Basalt entry-level variant is priced at Rs 7.99 lakh, while the turbo model is priced at Rs 11.4 lakh. The entry-level model only has a manual transmission, whereas the Basalt Turbo has an automatic 6-speed torque converter gearbox.
What do the sales figures indicate?
It would be interesting to watch how these two coupe SUVs do on the Indian market in the upcoming months. The two SUVs have similar prices to other vehicles, which is a big reason. But in the long run, the sales figures will decide how much Indian buyers like the style of the coupe SUV.
