In Budget 2025, the government also announced that central nodal agencies will continue to acquire tur (arhar), urad, and Masur up to 100% of the state’s production for an additional four years to achieve national pulse self-sufficiency.
On Monday, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare announced that the Center has approved the continuation of the integrated Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) Scheme for the 15th Finance Commission cycle through 2025–2026. This will help farmers obtain higher prices for their produce, and the procurement of pulses at the MSP is underway.

Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana have already begun the procurement process, and as of February 15, 12,006 farmers have benefited from the purchase of 0.15 lakh metric tonnes of tur (arhar) in these states. In other states, tur (arhar) procurement will shortly start as well. According to an official statement, the Center is dedicated to buying all of the tur produced by farmers through central nodal organizations, specifically the NCCF and the NAFED.
The government has permitted the purchase of tur, urad, and Masur under PSS equal to 100% of the state’s production for the procurement year 2024–2025 to reward farmers who are helping to increase domestic pulse production and lessen reliance on imports.

In Budget 2025, the government also announced that central nodal agencies will continue to acquire tur (arhar), urad, and Masur up to 100% of the state’s production for an additional four years to achieve national pulse self-sufficiency.
The purchase of tur (arhar) in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh under the Price Support Scheme for the Kharif 2024–25 Season has been approved by the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The total quantity consolidated to 13.22 LMT.

In addition to helping to provide farmers with fair prices for their produce, the integrated PM-AASHA Scheme is designed to increase the efficiency of procurement operations. This helps to control price volatility of essential commodities by guaranteeing their availability to consumers at reasonable prices through a buffer stock if market prices spike.
The central nodal agencies at the MSP purchase the notified pulses, oilseeds, and copra that meet the required Fair Average Quality directly from the pre-registered farmers via the state-level agencies under the Price Support Scheme of the integrated PM-AASHA Scheme.
