Manage AC and outdoor heat to prevent illness.

You may take certain crucial precautions to prevent illnesses when there is a sudden temperature change, whether from heat or cold.

How to Handle Temperature Differences: As summer approaches, the contrast between the office’s cool air conditioning (AC) and the blazing sun outdoors might harm our health. The body experiences stress when it is repeatedly heated, cooled, and then heated again. This can lead to issues like weariness, coughing, colds, and sore throats. Let’s discuss how to handle this temperature differential without endangering your health.

How to Handle Temperature Differences
  • Maintain proper hydration.
Dehydration can result from summertime sweating, and the cold air from air conditioners can exacerbate dry skin. Water should be consumed in eight to ten glasses a day. It helps to drink coconut water, lemonade, or lukewarm water. Steer clear of caffeine-based beverages (coffee, tea) as these can exacerbate dehydration.
  • Dress appropriately.
Outside the house, dress comfortably in loose, light cotton clothing to help beat the heat. In addition, to prevent tanning, cover your face with a scarf or towel. To shield your eyes from UV radiation, put on sunglasses. To combat the chill of the air conditioner, wear a jacket or hoodie to work. Shawls are also used by some people to keep warm. In this case, you can adjust your attire according to the temperature.
  • Gradually adjust to the temperature.
Before you enter or exit the workplace from the outside, wait a few minutes. To give the body time to adapt to the temperature shift, spend some time in the office lobby, for instance. This lessens unexpected stress.
  • Boost immunity
Temperature variations raise the chance of being ill. Consume seasonal fruits, oranges, guavas, and other fruits high in vitamin C. Consuming a ginger, basil, and honey infusion also boosts immunity. Light exercise and restful sleep are also essential.
  • Maintain a balanced AC temperature.
The office’s AC should ideally be kept between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius. Extremely low temperatures waste power in addition to being unhealthy. Open the office window and occasionally switch off the air conditioner if you can.
  • Eye and skin care:
Dry eyes and skin might result from AC air. As directed by the physician, apply eye drops and moisturizer. Another smart move to prevent sunburn while out is to use sunscreen.
