During the holiday season, individuals are concerned about the cost of tickets. The cost of tickets increases during Diwali. Those who intend to travel during Diwali this year might have the opportunity to take advantage of lower airfare.
Diwali Flight Prices 2025: As the holiday draws near, many are concerned about the cost of tickets. Major holidays like Diwali and Chhath usually see a sharp increase in airfare. Travelers might, however, see some respite this year. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated in a statement on Sunday that in order to keep airfares from going up during the festivals, airlines will set up more flights on popular routes. The DGCA is in charge of keeping an eye on airfares and preventing needless hikes, the Civil Aviation Ministry explained.

Having constructive conversations with airline companies
The DGCA characterized the airline meeting as constructive. The DGCA claims that airlines have committed to starting more flights in order to give customers access to reasonably priced travel throughout the holiday season. Data indicates that Air India and Air India Express would run 486 additional flights across 20 sectors, SpiceJet will run 546 additional flights across 38 sectors, and IndiGo will run roughly 730 additional flights across 42 sectors. By doing this, travelers will be able to travel at regular rates and help curb the growing fees throughout the holiday season.
DGCA will maintain a close watch.
India’s busiest travel months are October through December, which causes severe traffic on numerous routes and drives up ticket costs. This time, the DGCA has made it clear that airlines would be closely watched for flights and prices in order to guarantee that travelers get tickets in a timely manner and at a reasonable price. Indian airlines anticipate operating 22,945 domestic flights in October, down about 2.1 percent from the previous year, according to aviation analytics company Cirium.

Why do flights cost more during festivals?
In India, individuals travel widely to celebrate festivals with their relatives during the festive season. Demand for travel skyrockets during holidays like Diwali and Chhath. The limited number of flights and tremendous demand cause ticket costs to soar. However, it is anticipated that this year’s collaborative endeavor by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and airlines will alleviate passengers’ burden of expensive tickets and enable them to fly at regular rates.
