Alert Major High-Risk Threat Hits Mozilla & Chrome Users

If you use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, this news is for you. Some security flaws have been found in these browsers, which could lead to data theft.

Millions of desktop users in the country are facing the threat of hacking. The Indian government has issued a high-risk warning for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox users. These two browsers are among the most widely used in India, with millions using them. Security flaws have been discovered in both browsers, which could be exploited by attackers to steal data and crash the system. In light of this, the government agency, Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), has issued this warning.

These users are more at risk:

According to the government agency’s warning, users using Mozilla Firefox versions older than 144, Mozilla Firefox ESR versions older than 115.29, Mozilla Thunderbird versions older than 140.4, and Google ChromeOS versions older than 16404.45.0 are at greater risk of hacking. The flaw in the Mozilla browser allows hackers to steal sensitive information from the system and, in many cases, even crash the system. Users using this browser on Windows and Android are also at risk of cyberattacks. Regarding Google Chrome, this security flaw was found due to heap buffer overflows in video, sync, and WebGPU. This could allow hackers to trick a user into visiting malicious pages.

What options do users have now?

According to the warning, these security flaws were found in older versions of these browsers. Both companies have released security patches for them. Therefore, users can avoid these flaws by updating their browsers. If you frequently forget to update your browser, set it to auto-update. This will automatically install all necessary updates on your system, and you won’t have to worry about security flaws.
